1. Scope of this notice
This Privacy Policy applies to the Richs8Lab website, including our homepage, review pages, legal notices and related editorial content. Richs8Lab is an independent casino comparison and review site aimed at UK adults. We are not a gambling operator and we do not hold player balances, process casino withdrawals or run gambling accounts. Our role is limited to publishing editorial material and linking to third-party casino websites.
When you click through to an operator site, that operator becomes responsible for its own privacy practices. You should read its policies separately. This notice only covers information connected with your use of Richs8Lab.
2. Information we collect
We collect a mixture of technical and preference-based information. That may include IP address, browser type, operating system, approximate region, referral source, device type, page views, navigation paths, cookie choices and age-confirmation status stored locally on your device. If you contact us by email, we also receive the information you choose to include in your message, such as your name, email address and the content of your enquiry.
We do not intentionally collect special category personal data and we do not request payment information through the site. Please avoid sending more personal information than is necessary when corresponding with us.
3. Why we use personal data
We use data to keep the site functioning, remember key settings, understand which pages are being used, maintain security and respond to messages. That means processing data for practical tasks such as preventing abuse, diagnosing faults, measuring the usefulness of content and enforcing age-gating features designed to limit access by under-18s.
Where affiliate links are used, we may also receive reporting data that helps us understand whether a click-out occurred. This does not normally identify you to us by name. Instead, it helps us measure editorial performance and maintain the commercial side of the site without turning the site itself into a gambling product.
4. GDPR legal bases
Our main legal bases are legitimate interests, consent and compliance with legal obligations where relevant. Legitimate interests support site security, basic performance measurement, fraud prevention, editorial improvement and the administration of affiliate relationships. Consent supports the use of non-essential cookies or similar technologies where consent is required. If you contact us, we may process your message because it is necessary to take steps requested by you or because we have a legitimate interest in replying.
We assess these interests carefully and aim to use the least intrusive data reasonably needed for each purpose.
5. Cookies and local storage
Richs8Lab uses cookies and local storage to remember whether you have confirmed you are over 18 and whether you have made a cookie choice. We may also use analytics tools that rely on cookies or similar identifiers to understand aggregate traffic patterns. Details about those tools, including how to manage or delete them, are provided in our separate Cookie Policy.
Blocking cookies may affect the convenience of the site, particularly where preference memory is concerned, but you can still read most editorial content even if non-essential cookies are disabled.
6. Sharing with service providers and partners
We may share limited data with hosting providers, analytics providers, security partners, email service providers and affiliate platforms that help us run the site. These parties process information under contract or under their own responsibilities, depending on the role they perform. We do not sell personal data in the ordinary meaning of that term.
Where sharing takes place, we expect service providers to apply appropriate confidentiality, security and data-handling standards. We only share what is reasonably required for the relevant service.
7. International transfers
Some service providers may process data outside the UK. When that happens, we seek to use safeguards that are recognised under applicable data protection law, such as adequacy regulations, contractual protections or equivalent transfer mechanisms. International data handling can be part of ordinary web infrastructure, especially where hosting, analytics or anti-abuse services operate through global networks.
If you want more detail about the safeguards relevant to a specific transfer, you can contact us using the details at the end of this policy.
8. Retention periods
We keep information only for as long as it is reasonably needed for the purpose for which it was collected. Technical logs may be retained for shorter operational windows. Email correspondence may be retained for longer where it relates to a complaint, legal issue or accessibility request. Cookie preference records and local storage items remain on your device until they expire or you clear them.
Retention periods can vary because different categories of information serve different operational and legal functions. Once data is no longer needed, we aim to delete or anonymise it.
9. Your rights
Depending on your location and the circumstances, you may have rights to request access to personal data, rectification of inaccurate data, erasure, restriction of processing, objection to processing and data portability. You may also have the right to withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. These rights are not absolute, and some requests may be limited by legal exceptions, but we will consider every valid request carefully.
To exercise your rights, email privacy@richs8lab.com. We may need to verify identity before actioning a request.
10. Security measures
We use organisational and technical measures designed to reduce the risk of unauthorised access, disclosure, loss or misuse. No internet transmission or storage system is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise absolute security. Even so, we take the site environment, access controls, update routines and vendor choices seriously because editorial businesses can still be targeted by spam, scraping and abuse.
If we become aware of a material security issue affecting personal data, we will assess our obligations and respond in line with applicable law and practical risk.
11. Children and age policy
Richs8Lab is not intended for anyone under 18. We use age-gating features to discourage access by minors, and our content is written for adults interested in legal online gambling information in the UK. We do not knowingly seek or encourage use by children.
If you believe a minor has provided personal information to us, please contact us promptly so we can review the situation and remove data where appropriate.
12. Automated decision-making and Do Not Track
We do not use your personal data to make solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you. The site may use automated systems for spam filtering, security or traffic measurement, but these are operational controls rather than profiling systems that decide access to a gambling service. Richs8Lab does not currently respond to browser Do Not Track signals in a universal way because no common technical standard is consistently applied across the web.
We still aim to provide practical cookie controls and clear explanations so that visitors are not left guessing how tracking tools are being used.
13. Changes and contact
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect legal developments, operational changes or adjustments to the way Richs8Lab works. When we do, we will post the revised version on this page and update the effective presentation of the notice where appropriate.
Questions about this policy can be sent to privacy@richs8lab.com. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data request, you may also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office in the UK.
